Rapid post-earthquake damage diagnosis of bridges can guide decision-making for emergency response management and recovery. This can be facilitated using digital technologies to remove the barriers of manual post-event inspections. Prior mechanics-based Finite Element (FE) models can be used for post-event response simulation using the measured ground motions at nearby stations; however, the damage assessment outcomes would suffer from uncertainties in structural and soil material properties, input excitations, etc. For instrumented bridges, these uncertainties can be reduced by integrating sensory data with prior models through a model updating approach. This study presents a sequential Bayesian model updating technique, through which a linear/nonlinear FE model, including soil-structure interaction effects, and the foundation input motions are jointly identified from measured acceleration responses. The efficacy of the presented model updating technique is first examined through a numerical verification study. Then, seismic data recorded from the San Rogue Canyon Bridge in California are used for a real-world case study. Comparison between the free-field and the foundation input motions reveals valuable information regarding the soil-structure interaction effects at the bridge site. Moreover, the reasonable agreement between the recorded and estimated bridge responses shows the potentials of the presented model updating technique for real-world applications. The described process is a practice of digital twinning and the updated FE model is considered as the digital twin of the bridge and can be used to analyze the bridge and monitor the structural response at element, section, and fiber levels to diagnose the location and severity of any potential damage mechanism.

Materials of beams, plates, slabs, strips have been commonly applied in various fields of industry and agriculture as flat elements in the structures for machinery and construction. They are associated with the design of numerous engineering structures and facilities, such as the foundations of various buildings, airfield and road surfaces, floodgates, including underground structures. This paper reports a study into the interaction of the material (of beams, plates, slabs, strips) with the deformable base as a three-dimensional body and in the exact statement of a three-dimensional problem of mathematical physics under dynamic loads. The tasks of studying the interaction of a material (beams, plates, slabs, strips) with a deformable base have been set. A material lying on a porous water-saturated viscoelastic base is considered as a viscoelastic layer of the same geometry. It is assumed that the lower surface of the layer is flat while the upper surface, in a general case, is not flat and is given by some equation. Classical approximate theories of the interaction of a layer with a deformable base, based on the Kirchhoff hypothesis, have been considered. Using the well-known hypothesis by Timoshenko and others, the general three-dimensional problem is reduced to a two-dimensional one relative to the displacement of points of the median plane of the layer, which imposes restrictions on external efforts. In the examined problem, there is no median plane. Therefore, as the desired values, displacements and deformations of the points in the plane have been considered, which, under certain conditions, pass into the median plane of the layer. It is not possible to find a closed analytical solution for most problems while experimental studies often turn out to be time-consuming and dangerous processes

RESUMO A curva tensão-deformação do concreto é importante para o dimensionamento de estruturas, pois por meio dela é possível obter sua resistência à compressão, sua deformação de pico, o módulo de elasticidade e a tenacidade do concreto. Entretanto, essa é uma propriedade que não é comumente determinada nos ensaios de controle de qualidade do concreto, sendo normalmente controlada apenas a resistência à compressão. Contudo, quando se utiliza de métodos mais refinados para projeto de estruturas de concreto, como, por exemplo, a análise não linear física com o emprego do método dos elementos finitos, essa é uma propriedade fundamental para a análise da estrutura. Neste caso, a curva tensão-deformação à compressão deveria ser controlada em laboratório, mesmo quando se utiliza de curvas recomendadas em códigos de projeto. Deste modo, o objetivo deste artigo é apresentar uma metodologia para avaliação da curva completa tensão-deformação à compressão do concreto simples e reforçado com fibras de aço a partir de máquinas de ensaio de baixo custo, disponível na maioria dos laboratórios de controle de qualidade de concreto. Adicionalmente, é apresentada uma metodologia numérica para análise inversa da curva tensão-deformação à compressão com o objetivo de estimar parâmetros para modelagem de estruturas de concreto por meio da mecânica do Dano.
