Parametric Amplification and Cascaded-Nonlinearity Processes in Common Atomic System

Abstract: For the first time, we study the parametric amplification process of multi-wave mixing (PA-MWM) signal and cascaded-nonlinearity process (CNP) in sodium vapors both theoretically and experimentally, based on a conventional phase-conjugate MWM and a self-diffraction four-wave mixing (SD-FWM) processes, which are pumped by laser or amplified spontaneous emission (ASE), respectively. For laser pumping case, SD-FWM process serves as a quantum linear amplifier (a CNP) out (inside) of the resonant absorption region.… Show more

“…Since the first creation of quantum teleportation protocol by Bennett [1],in which maximally entangled Bell state was utilized for sending an arbitrary qubit to a distant party, research on quantum teleportation and quantum entanglement [2][3][4][5] have been attracting much attention both in theoretical and experimental aspects in recent years due to its important applications in quantum calculation and quantum communication. Several experimental implementations of teleportation have been reported [6] and some schemes of quantum teleportation have also been presented [7][8][9].…”

“…In an experiment, we also demonstrated the parametrically amplified FWM (PA-FWM) progress in an atomic ensemble. Such an enhanced nonlinear process [14,15] is used to generate the strongly two-mode bright beams in the cavity [16] and free space [17] with high efficiency and narrow bandwidth. In particular, the maximally multi-particle entangled states criterion and 8-particle entangled states [18] have been presented.…”

“…The EIT processes can be controlled by selecting different transitions among Zeeman sublevels via the polarization states of the laser beams [6]. The polarization dependences of four-wave mixing (FWM) and the enhanced FWM have been studied [7,8]. The atomic Autler-Townes (AT) splitting was first observed on an rf transition [9] and then in calcium atoms [10].…”
