Abstract:The influence of the irregular surface of a multi-layered soil on the estimation of the ground resistance of a complex electrode is studied. The electrode is placed in the first layer while the irregular surface is treated as the interface of an inhomogeneous volume filled with air and embedded in the first layer. A wide sample of irregular soils is generated and the variation of the electrode grounding resistance, as a function of a parameter that measures the surface unevenness, is evaluated. A stochastic model of the grounding resistance is proposed for which the variation of the electrode grounding resistance with its horizontal position relative to the surface is studied. The model features allow us to explain the variability found, as we are able to estimate the part of the uncertainty about the electrode grounding resistance measurements due to the non-planar soil surface.

RESUMO.O propósito deste trabalhoé apresentar um operador genético desenvolvido a partir dos métodos matemáticos de extrapolação de curva. Este operador irá auxiliar na produção de um indivíduo melhor adaptado na população do algoritmo genético com codificação real, reconhecendo padrões inerentes aos genes dos cromossomos dos melhores indivíduos de cada geração. O operador proposto em conjunto com o algoritmo genético de codificação realé comparado com cinco outros métodos diferentes de otimização aplicados a prospecção geoelétrica.Palavras-chave: otimização, operador matemático, algoritmo genético, codificação real. INTRODUÇÃOVários são os métodos de otimização existentes na literatura. Estes métodos podem ser divididos em dois grupos distintos; i) métodos determinísticos e ii) métodos heurísticos. Os algoritmos de otimização determinísticos nem sempre conseguem resolver problemas com alta ordem de complexidade, gastando elevado tempo de execução para obter resultados satisfatórios, em alguns casos inviabilizando o processo de otimização [1].Neste trabalho, um algoritmo genético (AG)é utilizado como método de otimização [2,3]. Os AG são métodos estocásticos de busca cega de soluções otimizadas [4]. Eles não dispõem de nenhum conhecimento específico do problema a ser resolvido, de maneira que a buscaé efetuada exclusivamente utilizando o valor da função de avaliação [5]. Wind turbines, because of their height and localization, are frequently subject to direct lightning strikes. Thus, the investigation on the performance of their grounding system is of paramount interest for the prediction of the potential threats either for people working in (or animals passing through) the wind farm area and for the power and control units installed in close proximity of the turbine towers. In this paper,we perform a comprensive study of the transient behavior of the earthing systems of wind turbines. The analysis is conducted in the frequency domain and an hybrid approach, based on circuit theory and Method of Moments, is adopted to fully account for resistive, inductive and capacitive couplings between elements of the ground system. The actual transient behavior is obtained by means of an Inverse Fourier Transform. The results, computed considering a typical wind turbine grounding system configuration, provide more insight on the nature of the early-time transient response of grounding systems and allow to draw up useful design guidelines.
