Parameter sensitivity of full-order flux observers for induction motors

Abstract: Abstract-This paper deals with flux estimation for induction motor drives. The equations of the parameter sensitivity of both the rotor flux estimation and the torque production are derived for a full-order flux observer. Based on the parameter sensitivity analysis, practical methods of designing robust observer gains combining the current model and the voltage model are proposed. The proposed gains are easy to tune and lead to a simple observer structure. Experimental results show that for inaccurate paramete… Show more

“…The effect of erroneous parameters used within speed-adaptive flux observers can be studied by means of a steady-state expression forψ R /ψ R [13]. In the following, the accuracy of the proposed observer design is compared with the accuracy of three existing observer designs [3], [5], [7], which reduce or remove the unstable region in the regenerating mode at low speeds if the parameter estimates are accurate.…”

“…At high speeds, the digital implementation of the observer has an important effect on the estimation accuracy and stability [22], [28], [29]. Good estimation accuracy at all stator frequencies can be achieved by implementing the observer in synchronous coordinates (where the quantities are dc in the steady state) in accordance with Fig.…”

“…Copyright ⓒ 2014 SERSC Numerous methods for induction machine online and offline parameter estimation were reviewed in [14], and parameter sensitivity analyses of full-order flux observers were given in [15]. Online estimation of states and parameters of an induction mot or with Kalman filter was presented in [16], and a suitable methodology was proposed to ensure a good level of estimation accuracy.…”
