Parameter estimation of LFM signal intercepted by improved dual‐channel Nyquist folding receiver

Abstract: A Nyquist folding receiver (NYFR) is a novel ultra-wideband (UWB) receiver architecture, which can realise a wideband receiving with fewer components. Intercepted by the NYFR with a sinusoidal frequency modulation (SFM) local oscillator, a linear frequency modulation (LFM) signal will be converted into a LFM/SFM hybrid modulated signal. To simplify the processing of this kind of complicated signal, the authors propose improved dual-channel NYFR architecture with an efficient parameter estimation algorithm. Com… Show more

“…In addition, the photonic NYFR structure [10] and the NYFR output noise properties [11] are investigated. In terms of processing the radar signal intercepted by the NYFR, the mono-pulse radar signal, the binary phase coded signal, the linear frequency modulation signal and the hybrid modulation radar signal are investigated [12][13][14][15][16]. However, for the FSK radar signal intercepted by the NYFR, there are only a few studies in the literature.…”

“…Consequently, conventional methods are not applicable for this case, and no better algorithm has been reported. In Reference [ 21 ], an improved dual-channel NYFR architecture was proposed to reduce the difficulty of NYFR output signal processing. However, this scheme introduced an auxiliary channel to the NYFR prototype structure, which doubled the hardware size.…”

“…In recent years, numerous researchers have explored the parameter estimation problem of chirp signals from different aspects [1], [9], [12]- [22]. Inspired by the recentlydeveloped sparse reconstruction method [23]- [28], we propose a fast and high accuracy parameter estimation method for LFM signals in the FrFD based on orthogonal matching pursuit (OMP).…”
