Parameter estimation of induction motor at standstill with magnetic flux monitoring

Abstract: The paper presents a new method for the estimation of the electric parameters of induction motors (IMs). During the identification process the rotor flux is also estimated. The procedure relies on standstill tests performed with a standard drive architecture, hence, it is suitable for self-commissioning drives. The identification scheme is based on the model reference adaptive system (MRAS) approach. A novel parallel adaptive observer (PAO) has been designed, starting from the series-parallel Kreisselmeier obs… Show more

“…Fuzzy logic and artificial neural network are also used to estimate the rotor and stator resistance, but in this method proper design of fuzzy rules and the adjustment of the weight require [11] - [14]. Even many optimization methods like genetic algorithm, partial swam optimization methods are also used to estimate the resistance of the induction motor, but all these optimization methods are offline methods [15] - [18]. In the real world application any optimization technique requires a long time to run and a large memory and it is impossible to find exact result, the result can be only near the global extreme.…”

“…The problem of induction motor parameter estimation has been addressed extensively by many researchers in the past. Deep bar motors were considered in [2] and parameter estimation was carried out with emphasis on leakage reactance in [3]. The method of finite element analysis was employed in [4].…”
