PAPR reduction of OFDM systems using embedded SLM-PTS combination scheme

Abstract

Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) has been regarded as the key technology of broadband wireless communication, and a variety of multi-carrier systems have been developed on this basis. However, almost all multicarrier systems face the problem of high peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR), which brings high bit error rate. Many methods to reduce PAPR have been proposed, such as clipping, SeLective Mapping (SLM), Partial Transmit Sequence (PTS), etc. Among them, hybrid methods can benefit from joint advantages and obtain better performance. This paper proposes an efficient embedded SLM-PTS combination scheme(ESP). This scheme divides the ODFM signal into subblocks, executes SLM steps in each sub-block, and then brings the results of each sub-block to the next step. The simulation results show that compared with the traditional hybrid scheme, this scheme can achieve better PAPR reduction performance and effectively reduce the complexity.
