“…The immunoprofile of our tumor supports the ductal and luminal differentiation and is consistent with other reports. 19,20 In summary, CAC is a rare low-grade carcinoma of the salivary gland. The diagnosis can be suggested on FNA smears, however, confirmation and distinction from its benign counterpart cystadenoma needs histologic confirmation of stromal invasion.…”

“…A positive immunoreactivity of vimentin, S-100 protein and focal expression of actin and GFAP has suggested the myoepithelial differentiation of clear tumor cells. Although papillary cystadenocarcinoma has been described as more common in minor salivary glands [148], we have recently found this tumor in major glands and immunohistochemical characteristics have shown positive immunoreactivity for cytokeratins, vimentin, NSE, S-100 protein, polymorphous epithelial mucins MAM-6, MAM-3, lysozyme, lactoferrin and alpha-1 antichymotrypsin and GFAP suggesting the tumor mainly arise from disorganized stratification and malignant transformation of ductal cells, with tumor cell population which may be the counterparts of modified myoepithelial cells [159].…”

“…2 Papillary cystadenocarcinoma is characterized by cysts and papillary endocystic projections but lacks the features of cystic variants of several common salivary gland carcinomas like polymorphous low-grade adenocarcinoma (PLGA), salivary duct carcinoma, mucoepidermoid carcinoma, and the papillary cystic variant of acinic cell carcinoma. 5,6 H e r e i n , w e d e s c r i b e a c a s e o f p a p i l l a r y cystadenocarcinoma of the parotid gland.…”
