Pantograph-Catenary System Modeling Using MATLAB-Simulink Algorithms

Abstract: -Contacts between pantograph and catenary are the most critical parts in the transmission of electrical energy for modern high-speed trains. Contact wire oscillations change combined force between pantograph and catenary, and the contact may even get lost. Therefore special pantographs and catenaries have been developed and further constructive changes are under development. A design criterion includes the permanent contact of pantograph head and contact wire at high speed and the reduction of both aero acoust… Show more

“…A system based on the Mayr arc model was proposed to detect arcs, and effects of arcs on AC current and voltage signals were analyzed [11]. A method based on a mathematical model was proposed to control the contact force in high-speed trains [12]. The mathematical model developed can be used for both active and passive controls.…”

“…High-speed trains are used safely in various cities of European and Asian countries today. In Japan, which has a significant weight in high-speed train lines, the density of passengers is also above the world average (Matvejevs, 2010). It serves over 305 million passengers a year with over 100 trains.…”

“…The model created is based on the simulation results of the catenary stiffness varying with time at different speeds, it has been understood that the model gives good results at constant speeds but does not give good results at variable speeds. Matvejevs (2010) continued their studies in a simulation environment because he thought that reducing the contact force effect would only be possible with special designs and that the special design to be made would be costly. Xiaodong et al (2011) argued that abrasions are caused by vibration and that the control method to be applied to the pantograph-catenary system should be applied to the pantograph arch suspension to reduce these vibrations.…”

“…Ayrıca model tabanlı yöntemler kullanılarak pantograf katener sisteminin akım ve gerilim sinyalleri ile birlikte arıza tespiti yapılmaktadır. Matvejevs ve diğ [12]. Pantograf ve katener sistemin model yapısını oluşturarak pantograf sistemin aktif ve pasif kontrolünü gerçekleştirmiştir.…”
