Palynological study of Janusia A. Juss. and related genera (Malpighiaceae)

Abstract: This paper presents a palynological study of 14 Janusia species and seven species belonging Aspicarpa, Camarea and Cottsia to contribute to the taxonomic study of the Gaudichaudieae tribe. The pollen grains were examined under optical and scanning electron microscopy. The pollen grains are generally spheroidal or cuboidal, medium to large, 6-8-porate and display variable colpoids and ornamentations. Janusia pollen grains vary in their quantitative characteristics, apertures and ornamentation. In some Janusia s… Show more

“…The pollen morphology of Malpighiaceae has been described in the studies of Erdtman (1952), Lobreau (1967Lobreau ( , 1968, Salgado-Labouriau (1973), Anderson (1982), Lobreau-Callen (1983), Makino (1986, Makino-Watanabe (1988), Roubik and Moreno (1991), Makino-Watanabe et al (1993a, b, 1998, Amorim (2003), Melhem et al (2003, Gonçalves-Esteves et al (2007), Magalhães-e-Silva (2007), Sousa et al 2010, Dutra et al (2014), and Sebastiani et al (2014). These studies report about the palynology of the family, its genera or isolated species, and the differences in the pollen grains analyzed indicate Malpighiaceae as eurypalynous.…”

“…Os dados referentes a tribo Gaudichaudieae também são relativamente escassos, e os mais recentes e abrangentes são os de Sebastiani (2010;et al, 2014). Com isso, o intuito do presente estudo foi realizar a descrição morfoanatômica de seis espécies do gênero Camarea, buscando novos caracteres que pudessem reforçar a delimitação das espécies que compõem o gênero.…”
