Palm Oil Bleaching Using Activated Carbon Prepared from Neem Leaves and Waste Tea

Abstract: Activated carbon is prepared from neem leaves (NLAC) and waste tea (WTAC). Iodine number, surface area, and methylene blue number of NLAC is higher than WTAC. The surface morphology of NLAC through scanning electron microscopy (SEM) confirms the presence of significant pores on its surface. Response surface methodology (RSM) is used to optimize the parameters. Adsorbent dosage influenced the reduction of acid value (AV) at higher temperatures.
