Palladium Nanoparticles Anchored on Amine-Functionalized Silica Nanotubes as a Highly Effective Catalyst

Abstract: The catalytic performance of supported heterogeneous catalysts is mainly dependent on their constitutive components including active species and supports. Therefore, the design and development of effective catalysts with synergistic enhanced effect between active sites and supports is of great significance. A facile in situ reduction approach to prepare amine-functionalized silica nanotubes (ASNTs)-supported Pd (ASNTs@Pd) composite catalyst is demonstrated in this article. Benefiting from the intrinsic physica… Show more

“…Silica NPs are mostly valued by their mesoporous properties [19]. Silica nanotubes, in particular, are widely used in drug delivery [20,21], catalysis [22][23][24], and biosensing [25]. The consumer products, large-scale manufacturers producing NMs, synthesizing, and research laboratories could be highlighted among the main sources leading to the release of NPs in the environment [26,27].…”

“…The resultant heterogenous catalyst accomplishes the facile mass transport of reactants, and easy access of reactants to active sites during p ‐nitrophenol reduction. The TOF of catalyst is well comparable to that of the earlier conventional catalysts reported in the literature . Likewise, there are other evidences demonstrating the significance of morphology of FS in reaching the high dispersion of metal NPs and the enhanced catalytic activity in the nitroarene reduction .…”

“…For the reduction reactions, FS‐based noble metal catalysts are preferential however the non‐noble metal catalysts immobilized on FS are also recently utilized . To investigate the catalytic efficacy of metal NPs in reduction reactions, p ‐nitrophenol reduction to p ‐aminophenol has been employed as the model reaction .…”
