“…In 2000, CRUST 2.0 updated the ice and sediment thickness information of CRUST 5.1 at 1 Â 1 resolution while basically redistributing the crustal thickness data onto a 2 Â 2 grid ( Figure 23). In addition, several high-resolution regional compilations of depth-to-Moho values have been developed for Europe (Dèzes and Ziegler, 2001;Geiss, 1987;Meissner et al, 1987;Ritzmann et al, 2002;Tesauro et al, 2008), the Middle East, and North Africa (Seber et al, 2001), and new models have been presented for South America (Chulick et al, 2013;Lloyd et al, 2010) and Asia (Stolk et al, 2013).…”

“…Critical to addressing such questions are records of basin subsidence, surface uplift, and crustal deformation at different locations along orogenic strike. However, such records in the northern part of the Andean plateau in southern Peru have largely been obscured by volcanic rocks from periods of intense magmatism (e.g., Demouy et al, ; Mamani et al, , ), or complicated by deformational overprinting during periods of oblique convergence (Carlotto, ) and contractional reactivation preexisting structures (e.g., Perez, Horton, & Carlotto, ). Cenozoic strata in the Peruvian Altiplano provide a valuable, yet relatively unexplored record of tectonic processes active during the Cenozoic construction of the Andean plateau.…”
