“…Based upon a palatal mucoperiosteal flap method, a palatal pushback procedure was performed using a partial mucosal flap of the palate and/or by severing the soft palate at the medial pterygoid plate (pharyngeal pushback procedure). In addition, large anatomical defects of the palate or pharynx were reconstructed by lateral pharyngoplasty (LP) with or without the palatal pushback procedure, using salpingopharyngeal muscle flaps (Tsukada et al, 1982).
