“…Absence of C. fallauxi in the Eastern Paratethys may indicate the existence of a palaeogeographical barrier between the Central and Eastern Paratethys during that period, as described in Studencka et al (1998). Rögl (1998) Recent studies show different interpretations of the Badenian subdivision, the age of the NN5 zone, and number and timing of Badenian marine transgressions in the Paratethys Piller et al 2007;Kováč et al 2007;Rögl et al 2007;Kováč et al 2008;Pezelj et al 2013;Bartol et al 2014;Hohenegger et al 2014). Therefore, the stratigraphic range of Clio fallauxi should be extended to the lower part of the Middle Badenian (Badenian subdivision sensu Papp &Cicha 1968 andPiller et al 2007).…”

“…Ez az epikontinentális tenger időszakosan kapcsolatban állt a Mediterrá -ne ummal, illetve az Indo-Pacifikus térséggel, továbbá a Keleti-Paratethysszel (KÓKAY 1985, RÖGL 1998a, BÁLDI 2006, KOVÁČ et al 2007, BARTOL et al 2014.…”

“…A Mediterráneum felé a kapcsolat az Alpok DK-i lábánál, a mai Szlovénia területén keresendő (KÓKAY 1985, BARTOL et al 2014. A köztes helyzetben lévő Középső-Paratethys medencéjében KÓKAY (1985) malakológiai vizsgálatok alapján a víztömeg rétegződését valószínűsítette, ezt BÁLDI (2006) stabil izotó -pos mérések adataival is alátámasztotta.…”

“…On land, a semi-arid climate characterized the Paratethys surroundings [65], and flora taxa indicate a warm temperate fully humid or winter dry (monsoonal) climate in the more continental regions of Greece, Austria and Hungary [38]. During the Late Langhian the eastern seaways were closed, and water to Central Paratethys was warranted through the "Trans-Tethyan Trench Corridor", a seaway that connected Central Paratethys with the Mediterranean that was formed during the Late Burdigalian [42,66]. The Middle Miocene shows also evidences of depleted oxygen events in Central Paratethys, triggered by phytoplankton blooms (like those seen today in the Adriatic Sea), originating from increased input of nutrients derived from the various deltas in the southwest of the Vienna Basin.…”
