Padi Aerob Untuk Mengatasi Masalah Kekurangan Air

Abstract: Irrigated lowland rice is the most important rice ecosystem in Malaysia. The present and future food security in rice for the country depends largely on the irrigated lowland rice production system which consumes a large amount of water. Signs of declining water availability due to increased demand of water for domestic and industrial uses besides irregularity of rainfall and climate change threatens the sustainability of irrigated rice production. This scenario may change the way rice is produced in the futur… Show more

“…According to Othman et al (2014a), irrigated rice consume lots of water (1200-1500 mm per season) which is fast becoming scarce even in humid countries such as Malaysia. The increasing water demand from domestic and industrial sectors, decreasing quality and resources, is envisaged to cause a decline in water availability and threaten the sustainable production of irrigated rice production.…”

“…Dry rice seed following aerobic rice seeding rate 150 kg ha -1 was buried in soil evenly at depth of 1 cm for each pot through direct seeding method. Prior to sowing, the soil was prepared with organic fertilizer at 1500 kg ha -1 (Othman et al, 2014). The pots were placed in a 80-by 60-by 5-cm tray and water was applied from the bottom of pots for vigorous growth of rice seedlings.…”

“…MRIA 1 only takes 90 days to achieve reproductive phase in which it exhibit a short maturation period. Besides, it has 9.8% protein content compared to the current rice varieties which only have 6.3 to 7.1 % [3]. Being one of an irrigated rice variety, the Oryza sativa L. Var.…”
