Abstract:The species formerly known as Pachyprotasis nigronotata Kriechbaumer, 1874 in Japan is described as P. kojimai Taeger & Shinohara, sp. nov. Both taxa are not very closely related, but were hitherto mixed up because of their similar coloration. The new species is endemic to the mountains of central Honshu and P. nigronotata is to be deleted from the fauna of Japan.
