“…Taken together, confirmation rearrangements (CRs) of stomach cancer could not be divided into distinct conserved or variable domains, while tandem repeats of poly C stretch and conserved structural elements in the mid-region were observed. In the present study, we have observed that the G+C-rich region of stomach cancer and healthy (control) population besides a poly-C stretch is present which may be involved in transcriptional control or may be the site for initiation of replication that is consistent with the study reported by others [19]. For tuibur consumers and stomach cancer samples, the stem-loop secondary structures plus flanking sequences were completely identical and the stem was formed by a perfect match of 17 nucleotide pairs.…”

“…Although, studies have shown that EBV lead to molecular changes resulting in gastric carcinogenesis, different to that of H. pylori sequence, and that there are certain characteristics that are unique to EBVaGC, there are still differences and conflicting results based on studies from other populations. This suggests that EBVaGC is a spectrum where in some cases, the main driving agent for carcinogenesis is the EBV itself in patient with susceptibility whereas in the rest of the cases, EBV maybe a bystander or is only contributory and other agents, either environmental and genetics (predisposing or protective) are the main determining factors (Kaung et al, 2014;Malakar et al, 2014;Tuncel et al, 2014). High salt intake is a proven risk factor and high salt intake is also common in our population.…”

“…Stomach cancer is more prevalent among North Eastern state in both males and females, Aizwal District as well as whole Mizoram state are the top leading regions around the world after some regions of Japan. The high incidence may be due to some of the unconventional food habits like smoked meat, smoked fish and also the habit of consumption of rice beer along with the smoked meat and fish and also studied have shown that genetic modification like p53 codon 72 polmorpism with tobacco and dietry habits influence the occurrences of stomach cancer in these region (Krishnatreya et al, 2014;Malakar et al, 2014).…”
