Abstract:Background
Heteroresistance is a phenotype in which a clinically susceptible bacterial isolate contains less susceptible subpopulations. Unexpectedly high levels of treatment failure for cefiderocol, a novel antibiotic designed to treat multidrug-resistant infections, have been attributed to this phenomenon.
