Abstract: Background Heart failure (HF) and atrial fibrillation (AF) commonly co-exist, each, predisposing the other. AF may inflict haemodynamic disturbances, leading to reduced cardiac output and hence acute decompensation. Ultimately mortality risk is further increased.
