swallowing phases, penetration and/or laryngeal aspiration grade and dysphagia severity grade. The quality of life questionnaire related to swallowing was used to evaluate the quality of life (SWAL-QOL, McHorney, 2002). RESULTS: In relation to the preparatory and oral phases, 8 patients presented changes in bolus formation and ejection and 5 patients showed oral stasis. On the other hand, reduction laryngeal elevation and hypopharynx stasis were observed in 7 patients in the pharyngeal phase. All patients had oropharyngeal stasis. Aspiration was observed in 4 patients. Severity dysphagia grade was considered mild and moderate in 7 patients. The patients presented good scores in relation to SWAL-QOL. The patients with worse severity dysphagia grade showed worse scores in 6 of 10 domains evaluated in the SWAL-QOL. CONCLUSIONS: Dysphagia after organ preservation varies between mild and moderate grades and the SWAL-QOL has good scores even in the presence of dysphagia.
