Abstract:Background
During the first wave of the COVID pandemic surgical services we paralysed globally, with cancellation of an estimated 28-million operations during the first 12 weeks. Worryingly, surgical patient with COVID were reported to have unacceptably high peri-operative mortality, approaching 25%.
