P‐41: Active Matrix Display with In‐Pixel Digital‐Analogue Conversion Driven by Digital Pulse Width Modulation

Abstract: The paper proposes a new concept to drive the display pixel by modulating the pulse width of data voltage to control the discharge through a resistor of the pixel voltage. Thus, the D/A converters, output buffers, as well as the reference voltages in the conventional data driver can be omitted. Without those circuits, the power and cost of the active matrix display can be further reduced.
