P‐17: DY Designs for CRTs with Reduced Depth

Abstract: We study the front-of-screen performance and optimal coil design for various deflection angles. Both normal scanning and transposed scanning are considered. In these investigations the energy dissipation in the coil is controlled. We find that the convergence errors grow with increasing deflection angle. Transposing the scanning direction reduces the convergence errors significantly. Thus coils with deflection angles up to 130° with good geometry and convergence can be designed.
