Abstract:Preclinical models have significantly increased the knowledge on intestinal ischemia reperfusion injury (IRI). However, anesthesia method can have an important impact on the outcome, including survival. Surprisingly, this has been rarely studied. Gas-anesthesia with Isoflurane (Iso) is more easily administered than intraperitoneal injection of Ketamin-Xylazine (K+X) but may have distinct hemodynamic and/or anti-inflammatory effects. Using a rat model of IRI, we evaluated the effect of 3 anesthetic methods. Mat… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
