The aim of this study is to explain and predict prospective preschool teachers' academic achievements depending on goal orientations they adopt, their critical thinking dispositions and self -regulation skills. Research sample constitutes of 265 prospective preschool teachers attending the Faculty of Educational Sciences in Cukurova University. Research data were collected with th e 2x2Achievement Goal Orientations Scale, Self-Regulation Questionnaire and Critical Thinking Disposition Scale. Demographical information about prospective teachers' gender, age, grade level and academic grade point averages were obtained with the person al information form. For the analysis of research data, One-Way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and discriminant analysis were used. In this study; it was concluded that prospective teachers with high level of learning approach orientation, critical thinking di sposition and self-regulation skills had higher levels of academic achievement. However, it was determined that distinguishing va riables among prospective preschool teachers with low, medium and high level of academic achievement included learning approach, performance approach goal orientation and critical thinking disposition and self -regulation skills. Correct classification percentage of distinguishing variables according to prospective preschool teachers' levels of academic achievement was determined as 48. 8%. Considering the fact that prospective teachers' achievement-goal orientations, critical thinking dispositions and self-regulation skills may increase their academic achievement and shape their future teaching performances, it is suggested to implement programs t hat will contribute to the development of such skills and orientations among prospective preschool teachers.

Emotion Regulation Skills and Self-Control as Predictors of Resilience in Teachers Candidates

This research aims to examine how emotion regulation skills and self-control variables influence teacher candidates’ levels of resilience. The research was conducted based on the relational screening model. The research group consisted of a total of 462 students, 225 (48.7%) boys and 237 (51.3%) girls, studying at Afyon Kocatepe University Faculty of Education in the 2020-2021 academic year. The average age of the research group was 20.23. “Personal Information Form”, “Brief Resilience Scale”, “Emotion Regulation Skills Scale” and “Self-Control Scale” were used as data collection tools in the context of the research. Stepwise regression analysis method from multiple linear regression analysis was used to analyze the data obtained from the research. In the study, it was concluded that emotion regulation skills and self-control significantly predicted teacher candidates’ resilience.

Psikolojik sağlamlık genel olarak, bazı olumsuz olaylar sonrası yeniden güçlü, sağlıklı ve başarı olabilme yeteneği olarak tanımlanmaktadır ve üç özelliği bulunmaktadır (risk faktörleri, koruyucu faktörler ve olumlu sonuçlar). Diğer öğrenciler ile karşılaştırıldığında hemşirelik öğrencileri ciddi oranda akademik ve klinik stres yaşadıklarından, hemşirelik öğrencilerinde psikolojik sağlamlığın anlaşılması oldukça önemlidir. Öğrencilerin akademik ve mesleki yaşantılarında karşılaştıkları zorluklar ile yüzleşebilmeleri için psikolojik sağlamlıklarını geliştirmeleri gerekmektedir ve bu konuda hemşire eğitimcilere büyük sorumluluk düşmektedir. Eğitimciler; öğrencilerin psikolojik sağlamlıklarını geliştirebilmek için öncelikle, risk ve koruyucu faktörlerin belirlenmesi için çalışmalar yapmalı ve öğrencilere koruyucu faktörlerini geliştirebilmeleri için bireysel danışmanlık hizmeti vermelidir.
