Abstract: Adsorption is a rapid and known method to treat wastewater and remove contaminants such as ammonia (NH3+) and nitrogen derivatives. Herein, novel adsorption materials are demonstrated to eliminate the most hazard industrial and municipal contaminants including ammonia and nitrogen derivatives. Oxide glasses as new adsorbing media are beneficial for wastewater treatment due to dangling bond defects and non-bridging oxygen, which act as adsorption centers.
