“…These fluorescent compounds (FCs) have not been fully chemically defined but are widely used as markers of lipid oxidation (Ivica and Wilhelm, 2014). In addition, when polyunsaturated fatty acids are oxidized, rearrangements of double bonds lead to the formation of membrane conjugated dienes (CDs) that are also a marker of lipid peroxidation (Kodali et al, 2020). To determine the production of FCs and CDs we conducted measurements on synaptosomal membranes, which were extracted using 2:1 chloroform: methanol containing 0.005% Beta-hydroxytoluene and 0.5 mM EDTA according to the method of Folch et al (Folch et al, 1957).…”
