Oxidative Dehydrogenative [3+3] Annulation of Benzylhydrazines with Aziridines Leading to Tetrahydrotriazines

Abstract: Summary of main observation and conclusion Oxidative dehydrogenative [3+3] annulation of benzylhydrazines with N‐sulfonylaziridines is described. A series of complex tetrahydro‐1,2,4‐triazines were produced under mild reaction conditions.

“…It can be seen, that under the given reaction conditions the first step (10 → 11) has an appromixate half-life time of 1 h, whereas the reaction mixture contains 11 and 12 in the ratio 14:86 after 72 h. The last step (12 → 13) appears to be rather slow, and only a small amount of 13 (9%) was observed after 90 h. The spontaneous dehydrogenation of the benzylamino groups in 10-12 is remarkable.
