“…Possible approaches are: to synthesize extra-large pore zeolites, [8][9][10][11][12], to decrease crystal size by direct synthesis [13][14][15][16][17][18][19] or by zeolite delamination [20], reducing in this way the length of the diffusion path. Another way of decreasing the length of the diffusion path is to generate mesopores in the zeolite crystals by means of carbon templating [21][22], by chemical or steam postsynthesis treatments [23] or by the use of supramolecular templating [24].…”

“…8 In the present study propane is oxidized with O 2 and H 2 to acetone and isopropanol with a high selectivity of 95% and a STY of 35 g kg cat À1 h À1 , which is much higher than previously reported yields and is similar to that obtained in a batch system using costly H 2 O 2 and TS-1 with a selectivity to oxygenates (acetone and isopropanol) close to 100% and a STY of 79 g kg cat À1 h À1 . 9 In conclusion, it has been demonstrated that Au supported on TS-1 are active catalysts for propane oxidation with O 2 and H 2 , and highly selective towards the formation of acetone and isopropanol, with space-time yields (STY) comparable to those obtained with liquid H 2 O 2 in a batch reactor. 9 These results are encouraging as further improvements in the catalytic and reactor system will likely yield much higher STYs.…”

“…Catechol is used as agrichemical, and in the synthesis of aromatic compounds, whereas hydroquinone is used as an antioxidant in elastics pigment. Various homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysts have been developed to achieve hydroxylation, including Fenton's reagent [3], Fe-containing molecular sieves [4][5][6][7], Cu-containing materials [8], and Ti-containing porous materials [9][10][11][12][13][14]. Among these functional materials, TS-1 zeolite is one of the most efficient solid catalysts with high activity and selectivity coupled with environmentally benign catalytic performance [13,14].…”
