“…The catalyst increased the reaction rate k by 10-50%, but the differences remained within the uncertainty of the measurements. Our earlier measurements have demonstrated 2-3 times higher removal efficiency in the presence of TiO 2 catalyst [20,59] but these results were obtained in the dry mixtures and at considerably higher NO x concentrations. It is possible that water vapor, CO 2 , CO or trace amounts of unburned hydrocarbons (only at ER = 0.8) block some of the active sites on the surface and decrease the efficiency of catalyst.…”

“…The possibility to improve the oxidation of NO 2 to N 2 O 5 was further investigated by including TiO 2 catalyst in the reaction zone containing ozone. The reaction chamber was heated to 100 • C because earlier experiments have shown that the catalyst is most efficient at these conditions [59]. Besides, the ozone oxidation also improves at higher temperatures [59] and the results obtained in the presence of catalyst were compared to those obtained in the absence of the catalyst in the same conditions.…”

“…Metal oxide is a kind of catalyst that has been studied earlier in the field of NO catalytic oxidation and developed vigorously. Jogi et al [105] found that the presence of TiO 2 greatly enhanced the efficiency of O 3 oxidation of NO 2 to N 2 O 5 at 100 • C. Wang et al [106] synthesized manganese oxides with different valences (MnO 2 , Mn 2 O 3 , and Mn 3 O 4 ) by hydrothermal method. At the space velocity of 48,000 mLg −1 h −1 , with oxygen as oxidant, the maximum NO conversion rate was 91.4%.…”

“…The ozone injection reactor (with TiO2 as the catalyst) was further studied at different catalyst temperatures, flow rates and inlet NO concentrations [42]. NO to NO2 oxidation was correlated with the inlet O3 concentration.…”
