Oxathiapiprolin, a Novel Chemical Inducer Activates the Plant Disease Resistance

Abstract: Oxathiapiprolin was developed as a specific plant pathogenic oomycete inhibitor, previously shown to have highly curative and protective activities against the pepper Phytophthora blight disease under field and greenhouse tests. Therefore, it was hypothesized that oxathiapiprolin might potentially activate the plant disease resistance against pathogen infections. This study investigated the potential and related mechanism of oxathiapiprolin to activate the plant disease resistance using the bacterium Pseudomon… Show more

“…parasitica . This is contrary to the result of Peng Qin [ 31 ]. The reason for this discrepancy may be that the test sampling time is different, and production of reactive oxygen species under pathogen infection is reported to create oxidative stress [ 32 ].…”

“…Oxathiapiprolin, which has an excellent control effect on oomycetes, was developed by DuPont. It has a good inhibitory effect on a series of plant pathogens, with high activity, low dosage, and a unique mode of action 11–14 . Piperidinothiazole fungicides have rapidly become a research hotspot of oomycete disease inhibitors 15–18 .…”

“…Oxathiapiprolin is a new piperidine fungicide with excellent efficacy against oomycete diseases, especially those caused by pathogenic blight, and is slightly toxic at very low dosages (Pasteris et al, 2016; Peng et al, 2020). It can control oomycete diseases in grapes, potatoes, and cucumbers, among others (D'Arcangelo et al, 2021; Miao et al, 2018).…”
