This study examines the roles of interdependence and policy variations across firms in the causality between bank size and profitability in Nigeria, using secondgeneration estimators and the Dumitrescu-Hurlin panel Granger non-causality test.The findings support different business strategies and policy variances across banks.Causality is found non-existent in the cases of 11 banks. A unidirectional causality from size to profitability is established in two banks while evidence of a unidirectional causality is established from profitability to bank size in the other two banks. This study concludes that cross-sectional dependence and policy variations across firms matter in the bank size-profitability nexus.

This study aims to analyze the efficiency level of conventionalcommercial banks and Islamic commercial banks in Indonesia fromthe first quarter of 2018 - the fourth quarter of 2020. This researchperiod is third year with the data used are 12 commercial banks anduses a quantitative approach. The method used in this research isStochastic Frontier Analysis (SFA). The results of this study are thatconventional commercial banks are more efficient than Islamiccommercial banks both before the COVID-19 pandemic and duringthe COVID-19 pandemic, more over there are differences in efficiencybetween conventional commercial banks and Islamic commercialbanks.

This study introduces the roles of firms' intertwining and policy variations across firms in the CEO pay–bank performance causal relationships in Nigeria, using the Dumitrescu–Hurlin panel Granger non‐causality test and second‐generation estimators. The findings reveal that banks' interdependence, diverse strategies, and policies vary across banks. In 11 banks, CEO pay is not a reward for bank performance or an incentive to perform. Meanwhile, two banks utilize performance‐based pay for their CEOs, while the remaining two adopt CEO pay as a performance motivator. The study concludes that firms' interdependence and policy variations across firms influence the CEO pay–bank performance nexus.
