“…It is due to their ability to protect body cells from diabetic complications and to restore the pancreatic cells that produces insulin (Salehi et al, 2019). Keeping in view the importance of medicinal plants in various ailments (Mtewa, 2017;Akram, 2021;Mtewa et al, 2020;Mtewa & Egbuna, 2021), this study was designed to explore the anti-diabetic effects of G. sylvestre and T. foenum-graecum with metformin in alloxan-induced diabetic rabbits.…”

“…Eastern herbal medicines (HMs), also known as Tibb-i-Unani, are plant-derived naturally occurring substances with minimum or no industrial processing that have been used to cure health issues within regional or local healing practices [5]. The plants and their parts, such as leaves, roots, bark, rhizomes, and flowers, contain several important chemical substances, including essential oils, alkaloids, terpenes, and vitamins that have specific therapeutic effects against several illnesses and for maintaining human health [6]. There has been exponential growth in the field of HMs in the last few decades.…”

“…Medicinal plants with strong antiviral activity to treat viral infections in humans and animals and those containing novel plant-derived antiviral agents have been identified [15][16][17]. Herbal medicines and purified natural products provide a rich resource for novel antiviral drug development [18,19]. Identification of antiviral mechanism of natural agents has shed light on interaction with the viral life cycle such as viral entry, replication, assembly, and release, as well as targeting of virus-host specific interactions [20].The antiviral activity of several natural products of the following species Ipomopsis aggregate, Aloe Vera, A L. dissectum, Achillea millefolium, Achillea tenuifolia, Achillea talagonica with Ania somnifera, Ashwagandha, Allium sativum, and Azadirachta indica were examined in vitro and in vivo and found all of these plants' extracts had antiviral against DNA or RNA viruses [8,9,21,22].…”
