Overexpression of SCUBE2 Inhibits Proliferation, Migration, and Invasion in Glioma Cells

Abstract: Signal peptide CUB EGF-like domain-containing protein 2 (SCUBE2), a member of the SCUBE family of proteins, was recently found to play an important role in cancer development. However, little is known regarding its biological function in glioma. In the present study, we investigated the effect of SCUBE2 on glioma and explored its relevant mechanisms. The study showed that SCUBE2 had a low expression in glioma tissue and cell lines. SCUBE2 overexpression inhibited glioma cell proliferation in vitro and in vivo … Show more

“…The signal peptide CUB EGF-like domain-containing protein 2 (SCUBE2), a member of the SCUBE family of proteins, inhibits cell proliferation and migration in glioma stem cells by downregulating Hh signaling. 265 BCL6, a transcriptional repressor and lymphoma oncoprotein, directly represses the Sonic Hh effectors Gli1 and Gli2 in medulloblastoma stem cells. 266 The transcription factor RUNX3 suppresses metastasis and the stemness of colorectal CSCs by promoting ubiquitination of Gli1 at the intracellular level.…”

“…Despite improvements in surgical resection techniques combined with radiotherapy and chemotherapy, the prognosis of patients with advanced glioma remains poor ( 3 , 4 ). Deregulation of oncogenes or tumor suppressors has been implicated in the development and malignant progression of glioma, and some have been suggested as potential targets for glioma treatment ( 5 7 ).…”

“…(Cheng et al 2009)SCUBE2 also performed as protective factor in glioma, non-small cell lung cancer and colorectal cancer and inhibited the proliferation and migration. (Guo et al 2017;Song et al 2015;Yang et al 2018) The Wnt secretion protein Wntless (WLS) has been proved to be involved in the development of several human cancers. WLS mostly plays the role of oncogene in most tumors.…”
