Approximately half of the world's gastric cancer cases and deaths occur in China. In addition, the incidence and mortality rates of gastric cancer in Gansu province in China are much higher than the average nationwide levels. The present study investigated microRNA (miRNA/miR) profiles in early gastric cancer (EGC) without specific symptoms. miRNA expression levels in five pairs of EGC tissues and adjacent non-cancerous mucosa tissues of patients from Gansu province in China were analyzed using a miRNA microarray. A total of 47 differentially expressed miRNAs (DEMs) were identified. Subsequently, mRNA expression profiles of three pairs of cancer tissues and adjacent non-cancerous tissues from 3 Asian patients with stage I or stage II gastric cancer (stage I/II; American Joint Committee on Cancer classification, Eighth Edition) were obtained from The Cancer Genome Atlas database, and differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were identified. The target genes of DEMs were filtered from the DEGs using the miRDB database and a miRNA-gene network was constructed. The functions of DEMs were evaluated using the tool for annotations of human miRNAs database, and via Gene Ontology analysis, Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes analysis and Gene Set Enrichment Analysis of the target genes. Finally, survival analyses of DEMs, which were in the miRNA-gene network, was performed. The results suggested that a number of miRNAs, including hsa-let-7a-5p, hsa-miR-27a-3p, hsa-miR-126-5p and hsa-miR-424-5p, may serve critical roles in EGC. The present study could provide a basis for the identification of EGC screening biomarkers. Furthermore, the present study may provide a basis for the exploration of the cause of the high incidence of gastric cancer in Gansu province from the perspective of miRNAs.

As a biomarker, neuron-specific enolase (NSE) has been widely recognized in the diagnosis of benign diseases and malignant tumors. This study aimed to investigate the potential diagnostic value of NSE in patients with gastric adenocarcinoma.Serum levels of the NSE were compared between 219 patients with gastric adenocarcinoma and 298 healthy individuals, NSE and clinicopathological parameters were analyzed. Meanwhile, to evaluate the diagnostic capability of NSE, the receiver operating characteristic (ROC), and area under curve (AUC) was calculated.In the present study, the median serum NSE level of the patient group was 20.770 ng/mL, which was higher than that of the control group 15.625 ng/mL (P < .05). Serum NSE level in patients group compared with healthy control was statistically significant (P < .05). Serum NSE level was associated with pathological tumor-node-metastasis (pTNM) staging, lymph node metastasis, and distant metastasis in patients with gastric adenocarcinoma. Besides, the AUC of NSE in gastric adenocarcinoma was 0.742, which was higher than those of the other 3 markers (0.573-0.644). Besides, the AUC of the combined 4 markers was higher than any individual marker (0.778).Serum NSE detecting may have good value for diagnosis of gastric adenocarcinoma. Besides, the combination of NSE, CEA, CA19-9, and CA242 performed even better than any single marker. Thus, the combined detection of the 4 tumor markers may be more useful for the diagnosis of gastric adenocarcinoma.

This research study was conducted to elucidate the effect of rehabilitation in combination with hyperbaric oxygen treatment on the secretion of neurotrophic factors and oxidative stress in recovery phase of cerebral infarction patients. A total of 120 cerebral infarction patients undergoing the treatment in recovery phase between June 2017 and May 2019 were randomized into the control group and the experiment group, with 60 patients in each group. In the control group, patients took the regular rehabilitation, while those in the experiment group performed the rehabilitation in combination with hyperbaric oxygen treatment. At admission (T 0 ) and after 14 d of treatment (T 1 ), we detected the differences of the level's neurotrophic factors, neurotransmitters and indicators of oxidative stress by comparison. At T 0 , comparison of the neurotrophic factors, neurotransmitters and indicators of oxidative stress showed no significant differences between two groups. At T 1 , patients in the experiment group experienced sharp decreases in myelin basic protein and neuron specific enolase levels and increase in nerve growth factor as compared with their counterparts in the control group; in serum, the level of glutamic acid in the experiment group was lower than that in the control group, while γ-aminobutyric acid showed the totally opposite change; in terms of the indicators of oxidative stress, the levels of reactive oxygen species and lipid hydrogen peroxide were lowered in the experiment group, with increases in the levels of catalase and superoxide dismutase when comparing with the control group. For treatment of cerebral infarction patients in recovery phase, rehabilitation in combination with hyperbaric oxygen treatment can optimize the nerve function while inhibit the general oxidative stress responses.
