Overdiagnosis of Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder in Children and Adolescents

Abstract: IMPORTANCE Reported increases in attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) diagnoses are accompanied by growing debate about the underlying factors. “…The age of onset of symptoms increased from “before 7 years” in DSM IV-TR (American Psychiatric Association, 2000 ) to “before 12 years” in DSM-5 (American Psychiatric Association, 2013 ).
