In this review study, grid-based methods and applied Geographic Information methods (GIS) for resource management are compared. The analysis looks at research or comparison studies to illustrate the benefits and drawbacks of grid-based resource management systems. Through a collection of real-world case studies in water, air, soil, forestry, and disaster monitoring, it discusses the practical impact of GIS in assisting resource management techniques. In order to effectively use GIS for resource management, the findings highlight the significance of data availability and quality, integration of various data sources, spatial analytical complexity, data privacy and security, and cost concerns. The potential of GIS in resolving these issues and promoting sustainable decision-making in natural resource management is covered in the paper's conclusion. Recent research is represented through graphic representation from different websites for upcoming Grid-based approach references. Citation-based statistics are utilized in this research to identify significant publishing sectors, such as the most popular keywords, best-selling books, most-cited journal articles, nations, and writers who have found success in the Grid-based system. The knowledge gained from this review aids in a better understanding of the relative merits and drawbacks of grid-based systems and applied GIS in resource management, offering helpful recommendations for further study and real-world implementations.

Spatial agglomeration of information services industry and its evolution: Evidence from the Pearl River Delta, China

The information services (IS) industry, which facilitates industrial transformation and upgrading, has emerged as a key driving force behind China's economic growth in recent years. More evidence can be accumulated from the Pearl River Delta (PRD), one of the largest transforming economies and IS gathering region in China. Firstly, this paper investigates the spatial patterns and dynamics of IS agglomeration in the PRD from 2003 to 2018, using the spatial autocorrelation analysis and Kernel density analysis. Secondly, a dynamic panel model with a system generalized method of moments (SYS‐GMM) estimation is employed to identify the factors significantly influencing the industry agglomeration economy. Results show that: (1) Large firms continue to gather in the core area of major cities, while smaller firms show a more balanced distribution from the core to periphery regions. The spatial proximity of firms proves that micro firms benefit less from industrial agglomeration compared to larger ones. (2) The effects of agglomeration externalities on economic growth remains positive, with labor force and commuting costs playing a vital role in the expansion of the IS industry. By integrating geo‐spatial information and empirical evidence, this study contributes to China's understanding and experience as a late‐developing country in the digital economy era. Finally, policies supporting small and medium enterprises (SMEs), improving the effectiveness of government subsidies, and strengthening industry‐university research cooperation are proposed.

In the digital era, digital technology enables political, economic and social fields. However, while the digital divide is pervasive due to the influence of population, geography, the economy and other factors, blindly pushing digital change often leads to the further expansion of the risks of social inequality. This paper constructed a three-dimensional analytical framework of digital gap-bridging policies from the perspective of policy objectives, policy tools and policy effectiveness. Based on this framework, this paper used the content analysis method to conduct a quantitative analysis of 81 digital gap-bridging policies published in China and selected the PMC index model for policy evaluation. The result shows that the policy goal of bridging the digital divide in China mainly focuses on bridging the material access gap and the technology gap, while inadequate attention was paid to the attitude gap and the use gap; in terms of policy tools, there exists an unbalanced situation regarding supply tools, environment and demand tools, with the first one being emphasized more than the others; there is still policy “fatigue” regarding weak feedback and less incentive, though the internal consistency level of the policy is good and the policy structure is reasonable. Therefore, we should optimize policy objectives and policy tools to bridge the digital divide. We should not only consider whether there is “or not” on the equipment and whether there is “or not” on the technology, but also consider whether we want to “or not” on the attitude and feel “or not” on the use; we should not only “give” unilaterally through supply-oriented policies but also “cooperate” with each other through demand-oriented and environment-oriented tools to release the maximum potential of digital empowerment.
