OVERCOMING SEED DORMANCY OF Robinia pseudoacacia L. AND Ceratonia siliqua L. SPECIES USING DIFFERENT PRETREATMENTS IN MALTA FOREST NURSERY – DUHOK

Abstract: Seeds of the legume species are characterized by physical hard seed coat dormancy. Several pre-sowing treatments were tested of these species to enhancing seed germination. This study was carried out in the Malta Forest Nursery to increasing the germination percentage of (Robinia pseudoacacia) and (Ceratonia siliqua) seeds. The experiment was laid out in randomized complete design with four replications. Both species, seeds were soaked in hot water at (80 Cᵒ) for 30, 60 and 90 min, and mechanical scarification… Show more

“…Seeds were sown (2.5 cm depth) in black polyethylene bags (12 cm diameter and 25 cm height) filled with 3 kg of loamy soil mixed with Ni (0, 15, 30 or 45 mg NiCl 2. kg −1 soil) that was denoted as Ni 0 , Ni 15 , Ni 30 , and Ni 45 or Pb (0, 15, 30, or 45 mg PbCl 2 kg −1 soil) that denoted as Pb 0 , Pb 15 , Pb 30 , and Pb 45 and their interactions. (Abdullah, et al, 2018;Olorunmaiye, 2019 andDirr andHeuser, 1987). The bags were suitably watered with ordinary (tap) water to provide possible uniform soil moisture conditions.…”
