The development of the digital economy and internet finance greatly impacts the technological innovation of Chinese commercial banks. Therefore, most of the Chinese commercial banks have invested a lot of money in the new information technology applications to adapt to the impacts of internet finance. Consequently, whether these investments have achieved the expected effect and efficiency has been concerned by these banks. For these concerns, we have used relative data from 49 Chinese commercial banks from 2010 to 2020 period and used the DEA-BCC model and DEA-Malmquist index to analyze their innovation efficiency from both static and dynamic perspectives. Our study found that from the static perspective, the innovation efficiency greatly varies among the banks in the study, and most banks have room for improvement in pure technical efficiency and scale efficiency. From the dynamic perspective, the innovation efficiency of the banks in the study is generally on the rise. Changes in technical efficiency play a major role in improving their overall efficiency, and technological progress is the second driving force. Therefore, technological investment should be increased, and technological levels should be improved to improve innovation efficiency. Our study also shows that, according to the ownership types, different groups of banks have differently shown their innovation efficiencies. Joint-stock commercial banks have the highest innovation efficiency, while rural commercial banks have the lowest innovation efficiency. Our study suggests that all Chinese commercial banks should overcome their own shortages in information technological innovation capability to elevate their innovation efficiency, under the background of internet finance.

Due to ports have rapidly been expanding, air pollution resulted from port operations has expansion and become a persistent concern for environmentalist and policy makers. The objective of this paper is to measure the environmental efficiency of ports in Korea. The main characteristic of the environmental efficiency assessment problem is that undesirable output of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions and exogenous fixed input of the terminal area of ports should concurrently be considered. By analysing the impacts of the exogenous fixed input and undesirable outputs on decision making units (DMUs) performance, a super efficiency slacks-based measure in data envelopment analysis (SE-SBM-DEA) approach is proposed. The proposed approach consists of two models are slacks-based measure (SBM) model and super efficiency SBM (SE-SBM) model. The models effectively discriminate between efficient and inefficient ports, and rank their efficiencies. To restrict any decreases or increases in the fixed input levels, the slacks of fixed inputs are removed from the target functions and their relevant constraints of the proposed approach. In addition, the undesirable outputs are formulated according to the weak disposability assumption, so that they can only be reduced with the reduction of certain desirable outputs. Hence, its slack should also be removed from the SBM and SE-SBM models. As a result, the scalar measures of the models only deal with the discretionary inputs and desirable outputs of a DMU being evaluated. We examine the applicability of the proposed approach, using real data, for 19 ports in Korea.

Over the past two decades, the use of network data envelopment analysis in real-world issues has attracted the attention of many researchers. This analysis is used when the output results of a decision unit are used as input to later units. Uncertainty in the inputs and outputs of each decision unit complicates the performance evaluation of such systems. In this paper, a new model of heterogeneous hybrid network data envelopment analysis is developed to measure the efficiency of decision units assuming the open structure of each decision unit, as well as the existence of interlayer relationships. In this model, constraints are defined in such a way that the number of units on the efficient boundary is limited. As a result, there is no need to use super-efficient models to determine overall performance. A robust approach has been used to deal with uncertainties in inputs, outputs and, interlayers. The application of the proposed model was studied to evaluate the performance of pistachio orchards in Yazd province, Iran, and the results were compared with traditional models. With the implementation of the proposed model, no unit was placed on the efficient boundary and there is no need for super-efficient models. The results were approved by agricultural experts.
