Over-expression of protein tyrosine phosphatase 4A2 correlates with tumor progression and poor prognosis in nasopharyngeal carcinoma

Abstract: Protein tyrosine phosphatase 4A2 (PTP4A2) has been implicated as an oncogenic protein in several human cancers. However, the level of PTP4A2 expression and its prognostic significance in nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) remains unknown. In this study, Western blotting (WB), quantitative real-time PCR (qT-PCR) and immunohischemistry (IHC) was applied to evaluated the expression levels of PTP4A2 in NPC cell lines and tumor tissues combining two independent cohorts. Receiver-operator curve (ROC) analysis was used t… Show more

“…Also, in intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma, which is the second most common liver malignant tumor type after the hepatocellular carcinoma, the expression of those two PRLs were associated with worse survival leading to a negative prognostic impact [104]. Similar observations were reported in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma [105][106][107] cancer, high expression of both PRL-2 [108] and PRL-3 [109] was closely associated with poor survival outcome in patients.…”

“…2). We also found that the gene expression of TMBIM6, AP2M1, and PTP4A2, which are correlated with cancer progression and the cell cycle [30][31][32] , was significantly increased by PPMP incubation in MDA-MB-231 human breast cancer cells, suggesting that PPMPs regulate the transcriptional activity of cancer cells.…”

“…For example (28-30), CKS1, P27, and CENP-F have been found to be involved in the regulation of an abnormal cell cycle. Some oncoproteins and tumor suppressor genes, such as RAP2A, PTP4A2, and ECRG4 (31)(32)(33), are closely related to cell proliferation. Although many oncogenes and carcinogenic factors have been found to affect the occurrence and development of NPC, the exact mechanism is still unknown.…”
