“…In sheep, a similar result has been reported by Gibson et al (2004) where eCG induced an earlier surge of the pre‐ovulatory LH. It has been reported that ovarian stimulation can be induced either using FSH or eCG in several species including the cow (Small et al, 2009), sheep (Cognie, 1999), pigs (Manjarin et al, 2009), goats (Montes‐Quiroz et al, 2019), mouse (Crispo et al, 2021) and rats (Popova et al, 2002), and it not only increased the number of follicles but also increased the transition of small to medium follicles (Sarwar et al, 2020). Thus, it is plausible to speculate that the FSH‐like activity of eCG might have influenced the stimulation of follicular growth and increased the secretion of E 2 by the pre‐ovulatory follicles as observed in the present experiment.…”

“… 24 C57BL/6J females were subjected to oestrus synchronization and superovulation. 25 Eight females were mated with eight fertile males each time, and the pronucleus was injected with approximately 10 pL mRNA. Approximately forty injected embryos were transferred into the fallopian tube of each pseudopregnant mouse.…”

“…High-yield ovulation, however, can result in production of up to 100 oocytes/female, thereby reducing the number of females needed for superovulation 123,125 . In the future, recombinant eCG may help to replace the animal-derived drug, once commercially available 126 . The mating of prepubescent females after superovulation is controversially discussed as an animal welfare issue.…”
