BackgroundTo assess the constants and formula for aphakia correction with iris-claw IOLs to achieve the best refractive status in cases of late in-the-bag IOL complex dislocation.MethodsA literature search was performed. The following data were obtained: Iris-claw IOL model, Iridal or retroiridal enclavation, A-constant, ultrasound or optical biometry, formula employed and refractive outcomes. Acceptable emmetropia was considered if the resulting spherical equivalent (SE) was within ±1.00 D.ResultsThe majority of the studies used SRK/T formula (66.6%). The 88.9% of the reports obtained a SE within ±1.00 D. Using A-115 for ultrasound biometry and A-115.7 for optical biometry and SRK/T formula, the emmetropia (±1.00 D) of SE, was able to get near 100% of reported cases over the pupil implantation. However, the emmetropia decreased to 80% when the enclavation is retropupilar using the same formula. The A-constant can vary from 116.7 to 117.5 for retropupilar enclavation.ConclusionsUsing A-115 for ultrasound biometry and A-115.7 for optical biometry and SRK/T formula, ±1.00 D of SE, is able to get near 100% of cases. Nevertheless, ±1.00 D of SE decreased to 80% of the cases when the enclavation is retropupilar.

Aim: To evaluate the results of scleral fixated intraocular lenses (SFIOLs) implantation in eyes that had lost capsular support. Material and methods: Eyes of twenty patients who had lost their capsular support due to various causes included in this study. This study involved 5 females and 15 males. Eight eyes were included following complicated cataract surgeries, five eyes were patients in trauma, three eyes were with subluxated intraocular lens, three aphakic eyes which underwent congenital cataract surgeries and one eye that had beginning of bullous keratopathy due to anterior chamber lens were operated. The secondary SFIOLs implantation were performed in all eyes. Preoperative and postoperative best corrected visual acuities were compared. Results: The mean age of patients was 61.4±15.04 years. The mean follow-up time was 3.12±0.7 months. The best corrected mean preoperative and postoperative visual acuities of patients were found as 0.16±0.02 and 0.38±0.07; respectively, using the Snellen chart. In our study; in two patients corneal edema, in one patient pupillary irregularity and in one patient increased intraocular pressure were observed. There was a statistically significant difference between the mean preoperative and postoperative visual acuities of patients according to the Wilcoxon test (p=0.01). Conclusion: SFIOLs implantation have still maintained its importance for correction of aphakia in patients without adequate capsular support despite all new developments.

Background: Aim of the study was to analyze the postoperative visual outcomes, complication rate of fibrin glueassisted, suture-less posterior chamber (PC) intraocular lens (IOL) implantation technique in eyes with inadequate capsule support at a tertiary eye care hospital. Methods: This is a retrospective, nonrandomized case series. This study analyzes 50 eyes which underwent PC-IOL implantation by fibrin glue-assisted, suture-less technique. All patients who had IOL implants by the fibrin glueassisted PC-IOL technique from 2017 to 2019 were included in the study. Intra-and post-operative complications were analyzed. The postoperative best corrected visual acuity (BCVA) was evaluated and recorded at the end of 6 months. Results: Mean age of distribution are 42.94 years in glued IOL implantation. Among 50 cases 30 are males and 20 are females. There is significant difference in BCVA between preoperatively and postoperatively, p value for preoperative to post-operative vision in glued intraocular lens group is <0.0001 i.e. there is definite improvement in vision in glued intraocular group. BCVA ≥6/24 was 18 (48%) in Glued IOL subjects. Conclusions: Glued IOL implantation is a feasible option in rehabilitating patients with aphakia without adequate capsular support.
