Outcomes of stage IV patients with colorectal cancer treated in a single institution: What is the key to the long-term survival?

Abstract: Abstract:Objectives: The purpose of this study is to summarize our short-and long-term treatment results for stage IV colorectal cancer (CRC) and to clarify the factors predicting the favorable long-term survival. Methods: Between January 2008 and December 2015, 149 consecutive patients with stage IV CRC underwent initial treatment at Nagoya University Hospital. “…PAMR1 might be considered as an early biomarker of colorectal cancer as in cervical and breast cancers. This finding could help to limit the number of CRC patients diagnosed with aggressive stages (III and IV), correlated with poor prognosis and short overall survival time (Kuo et al, 2003)(Mukai et al, 2018).…”

“…Many researchers have reported that curative resection might improve long-term survival in patients with stage IV CRC [20-22]. Recent retrospective studies on curatively resected stage IV CRC patients reported a 5-year OS rate of 52.2–57% [22, 23].…”
