Outcomes of manual small incision cataract surgery under topical anesthesia with lignocaine 2% jelly

Abstract: MSICS can be performed under topical anesthesia with lignocaine jelly, which makes the surgery patient-friendly, without compromising the outcome.

These included phacoemulsification using a clear corneal section [30,31] which will require a smaller wound size and lesser pain, and the use of lignocaine jelly in MSICS [12,32] which tend to have a longer duration and superior anesthetic action.
