Outcomes of Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) and Factors Associated with Mortality - Our Experience in a National Referral Centre

Abstract

Rationale Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) is applied as rescue therapy in patients who fail mechanical ventilation for Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS). It is also associated with significant complications and mortality. We analysed the factors associated with mortality in a national referral centre. Methods We conducted a retrospective analysis of patients admitted to a single centre Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) from 2008 to 2019 who were supported with ECMO.
