Outcome Predictors for Sacroiliac Joint (Lateral Branch) Radiofrequency Denervation

Abstract: Whereas several factors were found to influence outcome, no single clinical variable reliably predicted treatment results. The use of more stringent selection criteria was not associated with better outcomes.

“…Patients in the PRF group i.e Group I also used less analgesic medications which is significant from 1 week till 6 months when compared to the pretreatment values whereas in Group II (radiofrequency neurotomy) the amount of analgesic medications (Naproxen Na, Glucosamine and Pregabaline) showed significant improvement from 1 week till 12 months when compared to the pretreatment values [31][32][33][34]. The analgesic medications used in this study were Naproxen Na which is nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, Glucosamine (2-amino-2-deoxy-β-d-glucopyranose) which is an aminosugar (sugar molecule with a nitrogen) naturally present in the human body and in shellfish [35,36] and Pregabaline which is a GABAergic anticonvulsant and sedative of the central nervous system (CNS).…”

“…Однако из-за особенности иннервации КПС добиться полного регрессирования болевого синдрома часто не представляется возможным. Предложено считать эф-фективным регрессирование болевого синдрома более чем на 50 % по визуально-аналоговой шкале (ВАШ) сроком более чем на 6 месяцев [3].…”

“…90,[92][93][94] However, to date no difference in the outcome for different diagnostic block protocols could be found. 95 Due to the complex anatomy of the sacroiliac joint, Dreyfuss affirmed that the so-called comparative multi-site, multi-depth lateral branch blocks should be used to better prevent falsenegative responses. 96 A combination of provocative tests increases the probability for SI-joint pain.…”
