Outbreak of Neurologic Enterovirus Type 71 Disease: A Diagnostic Challenge

Abstract: Background. Similar to poliovirus, enterovirus type 71 (EV71) causes severe disease, including aseptic meningitis, encephalitis, acute flaccid paralysis, and acute cardiopulmonary dysfunction.
