Outage probability and channel capacity for the Nth best relay selection AF relaying over INID Rayleigh fading channels

Abstract: SUMMARY Cooperative diversity systems have recently been proposed as a way to form virtual antenna schemes without utilizing collocated multiple antennas. In this paper, we consider the Nth best opportunistic amplify‐and‐forward (AF) cooperative diversity systems. The AF type can be regarded as one on the basis of modified channel state information. Wireless channels between any pair of nodes (i.e., direct and dual hop links) are assumed quasi‐static independent and nonidentically distributed (INID) Rayleigh f… Show more

“…In [7], OP of dual-hop DF and amplify-and-forward (AF) relaying systems with multiple interferences over Rayleigh fading channels have been investigated. OP performance of partial relay selection in dual-hop AF relaying systems over Rayleigh fading channels are discussed in [8], and in [9] N th best opportunistic AF cooperative diversity systems are evaluated over i.n.i.d. Rayleigh fading channels.…”

“…The advantages of general cooperative diversity schemes come at the expense of the spectral efficiency since the source and all the relays must transmit on orthogonal channels (i.e., different time slots or frequency bands) in order to avoid interfering with each other as well [2]. Recent researches are carried out for relay-selection schemes in which only two channels are need (one for the direct link and the other one for best relay link) [5][6][7][8]. However, they need to additional process or feedback information for channel states.…”

“…In the former, the relay node transmits the received signals from both the source and the destination at the same time. In the latter, the single-relay node is selected so that only two channels are need (one for the direct link and the other for the selected indirect link) [5][6][7][8]. However, they need to additional process or feedback information for channel states.…”
