Out-of-equilibrium chiral magnetic effect and momentum relaxation in holography

Abstract: We compute anomalous transport phenomena sourced by vector and axial magnetic fields in out of equilibrium setups produced by Vaidya background metrics in holography. We use generalized Vaidya metrics that include momentum relaxation induced by massless scalar fields. While the background metric and gauge field show formally instantaneous thermalization the chiral magnetic effect has significantly large equilibration times. We study how the equilibration of the chiral magnetic effect depends on the length of t… Show more

“…The holographic axion model has been also used to study out-of-equilibrium dynamics in presence of anomaly [383,384]. In this last context, it has been proven before [385] that the chiral magnetic and chiral vortical conductivities are completely independent of the momentum relaxation rate introduced via the axions.…”

“…Our discussion of the generation of axial currents naturally leads us to the topic of chiral transport. There have been many works interested in chiral transport phenomena (some excellent examples [50,51,93,94]). The author is current engaged in studying these effects far from equilibrium in anisotropic systems.…”

“…This term, when included, provides for us an axial anomaly in the dual field theory. Other authors have utilized Vaidya spacetimes to include this term in a linearized analysis [50,51]. In this work we make use of the techniques developed by [33-42, 48, 49, 52] to extend the analysis of [48,49] to include the axial anomaly.…”

“…We want to address this question in this work by modeling the strongly coupled quark gluon plasma by means of a holographic model. Previous related studies of out-of-equilibrium chiral transport in holography are [7][8][9][10][11][12][13][14][15]. In this study [16], we investigate the realtime dynamics of the chiral magnetic effect in strong magnetic fields within holography for the first time in the full backreacted setup.…”
